a lackluster bridge burning doesn’t draw much of a crowd
though the heat feels inviting enough
i don’t blame the guests for not showing up
cause I feel the same way when I’m all burned out
and not much is left of my insides but blackened wood
and rusted leaves from the ground
but a state of mind is seasonal
it’s not hard to cover up tracks
like all those reddish marks left on the ground where you stood
the night is just as dark under unnatural lamplight
so use your head and crawl back to the cave from which you came
you’ve left your share of stains on all the faces of your friends
just look at all these shapes and lines that’ve come out of you
your hinted poppy letters always welcome here with me
i’m so proud of you my little auto factory
wires grew from hair like spears
foaming lips ceased trembling
and greyscale eyes flooded with imaginary colors
please don’t wake up
it’s time to get this tooth out
with a slam of the door
